Reiki can, at the same time, be easy to understand, yet difficult to explain. Do you know what makes you tick? The driving force that motivates everything? Energy! The Japanese kanji character for Rei has different levels of meaning. The most widely accepted definition is "universal", but Rei can also be defined as spirit. Ki means energy. Reiki (pronounced ray-kee) can therefore be defined as spiritually guided, universal life force energy.

Reiki is unlimited. It has the ability to heal on physical, emotional and spiritual levels. Reiki is self-guided. It goes where it needs to go. How does it get there? Reiki can only be used by a Reiki Practitioner. A practitioner is initiated or "attuned" to Reiki energy. We become a conduits, able to channel this energy through ourselves, into the recipient. The process of the attunement can be likened to turning on a light switch. We all have Reiki. We just need help to activate that switch. Although Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion, nor does it require a religious belief system to work. Anyone can learn Reiki - one simply does it and it works! You just need to want to learn and have a desire to practice.

Reiki is truly a wonderful gift. It can help you to help yourself. Whether you decide to experience a private healing session, or embark on your own journey of Reiki attunement and practice, you will not be disappointed. It can be an important tool for you to use on your path of self-discovery.
